Offline tutoring is the most popular and nutritious type of tutoring. Tutoring has always been a part of Indian culture, from the ancient gurukul system to the modern coaching industry. Frequently, our friends and family members inquire as to where we obtained our education outside school or college or if we provide coaching ourselves. Students should be able to earn their “pocket money” rather than relying on their parents. This is where Project Shikshalay comes in.

The Problem Statement

Students and their parents are frequently stressed when it comes to finding a suitable tutor. When looking for a tutor, many factors such as the teacher’s experience, fees, and so on come into play. Parents may request that tutors attend their children’s classes at their home rather than the tutor’s. Any tutor will face a similar problem. Centers that teach essential skills such as martial arts, driving, and so on have a difficult time reaching out to people.

Both tutors and students struggle to keep track of their meetings, exams, notes, and so on.

The majority of Indian youth are academically inclined. Students should be oriented in small-scale jobs from the start of their school careers. This instils in these young minds a culture of responsibility and self-reliance.

Perks for Students

To begin, a student’s dashboard displays his or her existing tuitions, a “Reminders” section, and so on. (Image 2)

A student will be notified about any meetings with new or existing teachers, upcoming class tests and competitive exams, and so on in the “Reminders” section.

The search bar at the top of this dashboard takes you to another screen that lists private tutors in that discipline, along with their star ratings and distance from the student’s home. Students can sort and filter these parameters based on their needs. (Image 3)

If a student wishes to have a tutor come to his or her home, he or she may leave a “call request.” These are collected by a tutor who is willing to deliver lessons at the ward’s residence.

Within the hamburger, there is a complaint option for students in the event of serious misconduct by the tutor, a switch to “tutor” if he is a part-time teacher in addition to studying, and a change to the app settings.

Perks for the Teachers

A tutor’s dashboard displays their existing students from their specific batches, as well as a “Reminders” section, a batch attendance monitor, and so on. (Image 4)

A teacher will be notified in the “Reminders” section of any meeting with a new or existing student or their parents, upcoming examinations to be taken, and so on. As previously stated, willing teachers will be able to take up “call requests” left by students.

Students in high school and college who are taking tuition as part-time work will be able to set their own hours and travel limits.

A tutor’s profile page will include their location and preferred hours. To protect the teachers’ privacy, in-app masked call and chat will be available.

Plans for the Future

Using https://github.com/OpenBoard-org/OpenBoard-api to integrate whiteboard functions.

The app can be used by a tutor who intends to use CCTV to monitor his batches studying in multiple rooms or centres. An OpenCV algorithm will be used to process the CCTV footage.

Expectations

Tutors will be able to collaborate with one another by creating workspaces, conducting inter coaching tests, and so on.

The review system will encourage good tutors and foster healthy competition in this local ecosystem.

Training centres for essential skills such as swimming, art, and so on will also gain exposure.

I’d like to conclude that, while still in its early stages of development, this concept has the potential to benefit society and the masses. As a private tutor for four years, I and my friend, Suvra, created this app with a variety of goals in mind. To us, it is more than just a project.

Made with love by Kaustav and Suvra. ❤️
